Yes, good idea. That should give you enough info for your application. But
here's a very short summary of what's there for RP:
We've got data from 12 16 year old pupils from Hill's Road, Cambridge. 6
were male and 6 were female. There are data in 5 speaking styles:
1. A range of fully voiced sentences (simple statements, Wh-questions,
yes/no questions etc.)
2. A read passage (Cinderella)
3. A retold version of that passage
4. Map task data
5. Free conversation on topic 'smoking'
The passage is about 5 minutes long, the retold version about 3 minutes.
Map tasks take between 3 and 10 minutes, roughly. The free conversation
about about 3 minutes.
You're very welcome to use the data. They're digitised in xwaves format,
and they are transcribed orthographically (and intonationally, of course).
Brechtje could play you some examples, if you'd like to assess the
'yokel-factor', but I suspect it won't be a problem. Oh - and one female
speaker has a funny articulation - sounds like a repaired cleft palate or
something, so you wouldn't want her - but here intonation is perfectly
normal.
Best wishes,
Esther
