Dear all,

I don't suppose anyone needs reminding, but the deadline for ICPhS
abstracts is next week. The deadline is Oct 15; the length of abstracts =
400 words. You can submit electronically, over the web.

I wanted to check out a couple of things.

1. I wonder if it might be a good idea if we all agree to put "Prosynth"
as one of the words in the title of our papers? Makes it clear that we're
part of the same project.
2. I wonder where we're going to put the papers: I can see that they might
all fit into "speech technology", but there's also "perception",
"prosody", "acoustics" and "phonology" as sections to put in for. Does
this matter? My own preference is to put our papers wherever they fit; we
might get a better/more varied audience for the project as a whole. (ie. I
don't see much to be gained from havign all ProSynth papers in the same
sessions; and think they're unlikely to accept all our offerings to one
session.)

We should remember to acknowledge EPSRC on the paper somewhere. I forgot
to do this for ICSLP.

There's a couple of other points I noticed:
* you can't submit more than two papers with your name on
* you can only submit one paper with your name as first author; and being
first author means you have to register, even if you don't present the
paper.

In the meantime, I am trying to draft an abstract from the York end. at
the moment I see it concentrating on squish, syllable overlap and their
relation to phonological structure. Does this sound OK? I'll send a draft
out maybe later today. (Back in York Weds-Thurs to see students.)

Hope term isn't frying everyone's brains
Relaxed in Cambridge,
Richard
