We are looking for someone to teach a short (10-credit) module in Relevance Theory at Sheffield Hallam University. The module is largely a general introduction to RT, and towards the end includes consideration of some of the work that has been done with relevance theory and literature - for example the notion of poetic effects, RT accounts of metaphor, irony, literary voice and literary form. Students are third year undergraduates on English Studies or English Language degree courses. The group will be small (around 15 students) and the module runs in the second semester of the coming academic year - that is from late January until early May 2010. Teaching time is one 90-minute seminar per week for 12 weeks. If you are interested please contact Steve Earnshaw: s.l.earnshaw@shu.ac.uk

With best wishes,

Barbara
