We take MBROLA as our primary choice of concatenative synthesiser - it
is widely and freely available. Although MBROLA does not permit control
over spectral characteristics, through sophisticated unit selection, it
is robust enough to allow the development of more delicate control over
temporal and intonational parameters for concatenative synthesis.
