I seem to have put a spanner in the works, I'm sorry.
I would have liked to have a meeting because I would like to
demonstrate a new Prosynth-for-Windows application to you. It
is a program that takes text input, does the XML processing and
then drives the MBROLA system. I have been working on the pitch
accent rules too, so that you can hear complete synthesis.
I am assuming that Sarah will want to show this at ICPhS, so I
wanted to get your reactions and suggestions in time for me
to make changes before Sarah leaves.
I could put the software on the FTP site for you to download
and try out, and I can show it to Jill and Jana of course.
Since I will be away on holiday from July 9 to July 25, I
would probably have to wait until just before Sarah goes to
the US before I can install it on her laptop.
What would make the whole thing really great is if I could get
the York duration rules to incorporate into this too (it still
uses the Klatt rules currently).
I would be available on Wednesday too for a meeting, and I
am happy to travel to York or Cambridge. Maybe a trip to
York to see Paul might force the pace on durations?
Mark
