Attached to this message are some MBROLA .pho control files.
I have generated 4 files for each of the structures Richard identified
(plus three more structures).
Each structure has two associated database items. For each database item,
there are 2 files: one has Mark's timings throughout, the other has Mark's
timings up to the end of the initial consonant of the final foot and
YorkTalk timings for the remainder of the final foot. None are specified
for F0.
YorkTalk will only parse complete feet: this is why Mark's timings have
been used for the initial foot of each utterance. Additionally, YT
assumes that the foot it parses is isolated. This means that initial
consonants (especially plosives) come out as far too short for this
context. Since YT overlaps constituents at joins, I've simply used Mark's
timings for these initial consonants without altering the later timings
produced by the parser.
The files are named <1152MH.pho> etc for the files with Mark's timings
throughout, and <1152YT.pho> etc for the files with YorkTalk timings in
the final foot.
Two points:
1 More files are on the way, though we may have to collapse some of the
structural categories in order to have enough tokens in each. This is due
to some internal problems in the YT parser.
2 I've not done anything about F0 for these files. Jill & Jana: I
imagine you'll have to put an F0 on to these files since I don't know what
your current model is and I don't have XML files with the proper labelling
in to run Mark's uttmbrol program over (so I can't put in Mark's F0
automatically).
Below is the list of files included, arranged by structure. The number to
the right of each database item is the duration of the initial consonant
as generated by YorkTalk (replaced by Mark's timings in the actual files).
