Good news: prosynth paper accepted for ICSLP98 (Sydney), and also my paper
with Noel, which will be a production-only analysis of our LabPhon paper.
SEbastian and I have yet to hear about the HLsyn paper for the synthesis
workshop before ICSLP.

Dear Dr Hawkins,

We are pleased to confirm that your paper as listed below has been accepted
for presentation at ICSLP'98/SST-98:

Title: ProSynth: An Integrated Prosodic
Approach to Device-Independent,
Natural-Sounding Speech Synthesis
Paper Number: 538.00
Presentation Type: Oral Paper

Title: Syllable-onset acoustic properties
associated with syllable-coda
voicing
Paper Number: 539.00
Presentation Type: Oral Paper

We invite you to proceed with the production of the full paper version of the
accepted summary.

In many cases the reviewers and/or technical area organisers/moderators have
provided comments on the submitted summaries to enable authors to improve
their papers. If there are comments on your summary, these will be
transmitted to you by email by the Technical Programme Committee in the next
few days.

All further information will be made available to you via the conference web
site at http://cslab.anu.edu.au/icslp98. Of critical importance to you are
the instructions for the production of your camera-ready full paper, available
via the link on that page to "Instructions for Authors". It is essential that
you read and adhere to these instructions.

You should also consult the conference web site for:

* on-line registration form;
* the provisional programme (available by 10th July);
* sample paper layouts for the main conference and the SST Student Day;
* contact information for your session chairperson (when appointed);
* specific instructions for ICSLP'98 oral presentation;
* specific instructions for ICSLP'98 poster presentations;
* specific instructions for SST-98 student day presentations; and
* facilities for authors at the venue.

Some of this information will be updated as details become available.

If you are unable to gain access to the WWW site, then you should contact the
conference secretariat for hardcopy versions of this material. We do,
however, ask that you use your best efforts to access the information via the
WWW to reduce unnecessary expenses incurred by the conference in the provision
of this material by mail.

Please note that it is a condition of acceptance of your paper that you
register for the conference by 21st August 1998. If this condition is not met
then your paper will be removed from the provisional programme. If you
require printed proceedings please make sure that you order at the time of
registration as we cannot guarantee supply without such orders.

We would like to hear from you by 24th July 1998 on the following two matters:

* If for any reason you are now unable to attend the conference and must
therefore withdraw your paper, please let us know.

* If you are proceeding with your accepted paper, please indicate by marking
your audio-visual preferences in the boxes provided:

[ ] Overhead Projector
[ ] 35mm Slide Projector
[ ] Audio Cassette Tape Playback Facility
[ ] Video Projector (NTSC/PAL)
[ ] Data projector (XGA & Mac, bring your own computer **)
[ ] Other (please
specify).......................................................

** Electrical current is 240/250V, AC 50 Hz. The Australian three-pin power
outlet is different to that in other countries, so you will need an adaptor.
If your appliances are 110V, check if there is a 110/240V switch. If not, you
will need a voltage converter.

While we cannot guarantee to meet your preference we will take it into account
in making audio-visual provisions at the venue.

In all communications on these matters, please ensure that you quote your
Paper Number as stated at the beginning of this letter.

Our next direct contact with you should be the confirmation of your
registration for the conference.

Yours sincerely,
ICSLP'98 SECRETARIAT
