Re: RT list: Question to the Moderator and to everybody

Dear Anabella and all,

This group doesn't have a moderator, really, in that no one gets to
change or censor emails to the list either before or after they are
circulated. I am the current administrator, which I take to mean that
I sort out technical issues -- problems with subscription, spam,
archiving and the like.

My opinion has no special weight on this matter, therefore, but I
have one. It's generally regarded as bad etiquette to cite personal
correspondence without permission but fine to cite public letters.
The awkward thing is to decide whether postings to the relevance list
fall into either category. Only subscribers are sent the postings,
but the list is archived publically, (at http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/
home/robyn/relevance/home.htm) and has been since February 2000, so I
think that postings should be treated as open letters.

Best,
Nick
