    Hi there,

I've just become a member of the Relevance List...

My name is Simone Mueller (or write my last name with u Umlaut,
if you like), and I am a PhD student at Justus-Liebig University,
Giessen, Germany. I have just started working on my dissertation,
preparing the data for my analysis. The data consist of the
transcripts of 70 ten to fifteen minute conversations in which pairs
of students (Californian native speakers and German non-native
speakers) retell and discuss a short silent movie they have been
shown. I am planning to analyse these transcripts for the use of five
selected discourse markers by native vs. non-native speakers, and
to try to relate differences within the non-native group to differences
in how (for how long, in which context) they learned and use
English. So far I still have to find out whether and how I can explain
all of my findings from a relevance-theoretic perspective...

    Best regards,

    Simone Mueller
