Labels

Click the ENTER button to get feedback, which will appear in the text boxes at the bottom of each column. If you get a label wrong, the correct answer will be shown as a checked label in the appropriate column and in a pop-up window.

After a delay of 5 seconds, a new symbol will be presented. If you wish to alter the delay, type a number into the Delay box in the Controls area or use the up and down arrows on the box.

After the presentation of 10 symbols, a review pop-up screen will appear showing the symbols you got wrong together with your score out of 10. To change the review interval type a number into the Review after box in the Controls area or use the arrows. The maximum is 25. To turn off the review altogether, set the number to zero.

The program presents all the labels and then gives you feedback on your total score. If you want to have another go, hit REFRESH or RELOAD on your browser. The presentation order should be different, but this is not absolutely guaranteed.

Hit and miss

For these screens your task is to check all the words in which the highlighted portion of the word represents the sound symbolised.

You can choose how often you get a summary of your performance by typing a number in the textbox at the bottom of the screen. The default frequency is every 5 screens.
