1997 saw the successful conclusion of the major European collaborative Research and Development Project OSCAR (Optimal Speech Communication Assistance for Residual Abilities) under my co-ordination. The OSCAR project was supported by the TIDE sector of CEC DGXIII. The Final Report is now available. There is also a 15 minute video that gives an non-technical overview of the project and illustrates the functioning of the speech processing hearing aids that were the focus of the work.

Media: July: Interviewed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for a feature about our work concerning speech-pattern hearing aids in China.

Has been closely involved with the Medical Research Council Cognitive Development Unit in developing their ERP (Event Related Potential) electrical brain imaging system using state of the art high density arrays, with a view for its use by the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics for research. Is presently investigating its potential for studying tonotopic and periodotopic mappings in the human auditory cortex.
