PLIN7108 - Tone and Intonation

The aim is to understand tone and intonation in speech from a phonetic prospective. The lectures will cover physiology of pitch production, acoustics and instrumental analysis of pitch, perception of tone and intonation in continuous speech, and communicative meanings of tone and intonation. Theoretical issues of tone and intonation will also be covered through the discussion of various tonal and intonational models.
