JOGGING, RUNNING, FITNESS CLUB

Come and join us at 10 o'clock any Sunday morning for warm-up exercises
beside the Windmill Car Park, Wimbledon Common, London SW19,
followed by an easy run.

All abilities catered for. All welcome. No charge.

To find out more about our running and social programme, please read on, or phone for details:

(* Yes, that's Windmilers, not Windmillers. We run like the wind, we run for miles. True, we do often meet at the Windmill, though.)

Social run (2½-3 miles / 4-5 km, with three stops): 10.00 every Sunday from the Windmill Car Park (see map, 200KB; or another map, 61KB). This is where to turn up if you're a newcomer. As long as you can keep going at a gentle jog for 5-10 minutes you'll do fine. Those who feel like a longer run afterwards can continue into Richmond Park for our five or seven mile (8 or 11 km) course.

Training: 19.00 for 19.15 (7 for 7.15 pm) every Tuesday and Thursday, usually structured training involving speedwork, fartlek and hills. Anybody who can manage the Sunday social run with ease should be able to cope with what we do. Telephone Olwen (0181-949 6345) or Brian (0181-395 7646) for details. Meet at Wimbledon RFC, Barham Road, London SW20 (see map, 250KB). NB - not on those Tuesdays when there is a club 3 mile handicap (see Forthcoming Events)

Supervised Track training: 09.45 every Saturday at Wimbledon Park Track (fee: £1.55). See details.

Longer runs (11 or 15 miles / 17 or 24 km): 09.30 every Sunday from the Windmill.

(after the race)

We have a large membership -- around 250 people, men and women, old and young. This means that everyone can find someone of their own standard to run with, from those who just jog two or three miles on a Sunday to those who can complete a marathon in under three hours.

We have qualified coaches who plan our schedules and who can give advice on training.

Wimbledon Windmilers also organize various social events for members: barbecue, ten-pin bowling, quiz nights, Christmas dinner, children's party... Details from committee members - - -
