My name is ZONG Shihai. I am a professor of pragmatics, Chinese L2 and a editor of the journal TCSOL Studies, which means Teaching Chinese to the Speakers of Other Languages study.
I am sorry I didn't introduce myself to you when I joined this list many months ago.
Here is a paper abstract on Grice's theory of CP and its maxims which written by a Chinese profssor of pragmatics, stylistics and syntax CHENG Yuming. If anybody interested in it please give me a email for the PDF version of the paper. The paper is written in Chinese with English Title and abstract.

Discussions on Grice’s Conversational Implicature
CHENG Yumin
(Fudan University, School of Foreign Language and Literature)

Key words Grice; Grice’s ‘Cooperative Principle’; conversational implicature; particularized conversational implicature; generalized conversational implicature
Abstract (1)According to Grice’s own definition, speaker has to consciously adhere to the ‘maxims’ to make his conversational contributions cooperative. However, his “maxims’ are hardly applicable from a view of conscious adherence. Actually, conversational contributions are presumed to be cooperative. From this point of view, we can see how the ‘maxims’ may be useful in explaining the appearance of conversational implicatures. (2)The so-called ‘generalized conversational implicature’ may not be necessary as it coincides with the concept of ‘realization of word meaning’. This view is argued for with examples from the use of articles, numbers and words that may be considered implying each other.

The Grice Club is fine and dandy at
           http://griceclub.blogspot.com
So feel free to drop by and say hi.
Our Saturday mornings will be especially focused on relevant floutings
to ´be relevant´ -- so beware!
(I´m retrieving most of the posts sent elsewhere -- there´s a good
search engine on top of it -- so people who have held Gricean
contributions publicly with me will be pleased to see their names
properly credited.
ObGrice: Q: Grice, Austin, and Kent Bach:
What do they have in common?
               A: They held professional philosophical
affiliations and are listed by N.
                   Elwyn Allott in his forthcoming
¨Key Terms in Pragmatics¨: Section II.
ObRel: Q: When Grice writes, "Echoing Kant" (WoW:26)",
of Quantität, Qualität, Relation, und Modus, shouldn´t
it be stricter to say he is echoing Norman Kemp Smith?
Again, answers on a postcard to
           http://griceclub.blogspot.com
-- the only club where scruples of Gricean lizards can lounge at ease.
