RT list: Special RT issue of "Zeitschrift für Semiotik"?

Dear all,

since RT is not yet very well known in Germany, certainly not among
semioticians, Berlin-based interdisciplinary semiotics journal
"Zeitschrift für Semiotik" is considering a thematic issue on RT next
year or the year after that. Editor Roland Posner has asked me to find
out if he could get enough good papers for that - for unfortunately,
they would have to be in German (!). The idea is to introduce RT to an
audience of researchers interested in semiotics in the broadest sense
and show its relevance to what they do. The thematic issue, if they
decide to do it, would be something like 70 pages and contain 3 or 4
peer-reviewed papers plus an introduction, I think.

There'd be a good chance of open-minded reception. These people do talk
about codes, but for them, that doesn't necessarily imply any simple
guarantees of understanding. There is currently a lot of interest in
things like processes, diachronic change, contexts of use, interaction,
and cognition; Posner, for instance, favours a model of language change
which is based on an economy of speaker and hearer effort. So there
should be various points of contact.

Some info on the journal (incl. abstracts of past issues) is available
on http://ling.kgw.tu-berlin.de/semiotik/english/thema12_e.htm.

I'd love to hear if any of you or someone you know might be interested
in contributing, or what you think of the idea...

Best,
Jan
