Happy new year to all,

(a) Sitting down, taking out a pencil, he began to write.
(b) Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then boil without stirring 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water. Meanwhile, whip until stiff but not dry 2 egg whites, 1/8 teaspoon salt.... When the syrup begins to fall in heavy drops from a spoon, add a small quantity of it to the eggs and sugar; continue beating.¡(Hopper & Thompson 1980)

According to Blakemore, conjoined clauses are one processing unit. could anybody tell me whether the last two discourse segments without "and" are also one processing unit?
thanks in advance.

Charles Wang
