Stress Roads and StreetsMost names of roads and other thoroughfares have the main stress on the final element. Here are some examples:
Names which end in Street are exceptional. These have the main stress in the word before the word Street.
Another minor exception concerns names involving the phrase High Road. One would expect the main stress on the Road part, but in fact it usually falls on the High.
