I review two overviews of Systemic (Functional) Grammar: An Introduction to Functional Grammar by Michael Halliday and Systemic Linguistics: Theory and Applications by Chris Butler. I criticize various aspects of the theory in Halliday's book, and heap brief praise on Butler.
