Declaration required before physically connecting a PC to
the UCL Department of Phonetics and Linguistics computer network
The user of a PC, before connecting it to a network socket in the UCL
Department of Phonetics and Linguistics, is required to fill in
this declaration if the PC is not owned and configured by this
department. Approval by the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics
after you have signed this form, gives permission only for the PC
as identified below to be plugged into the allocated network socket.
Another form must be signed for approval if changes are made to the
PC's networking hardware or software configuration, or a different PC
is plugged in.
This is a pilot networking system and although good reliability is
expected, no guarantee can be given that failures for extended periods
will not occur. Also, network TCP/IP names and addresses you have
previously entered into your PC for connecting it to other networks
will probably be deleted.
Declaration
I agree to abide by the following and understand that I could be held
personally liable for consequences resulting from violation of these
requirements:-
The computer is plugged into only that network socket designated to me
by the Department, and it complies with the following:-
The computer contains standard PC hardware and has one of the
following operating systems activated with all available critical
security updates applied: Windows NT, Windows
2000, Windows XP, Apple Mac OS or Linux
The computer contains no viruses, worms or other software capable of
illegally accessing, disrupting or monitoring computer systems or
networks. The absence of viruses must be confirmed by scanning
with a current version of a recognised virus scanner (eg F-Secure)
containing all available
updates.
I will abide by the UCL computing regulations as stated in:
