Declaration required before physically connecting a PC to the UCL Department of Phonetics and Linguistics computer network

The user of a PC, before connecting it to a network socket in the UCL Department of Phonetics and Linguistics, is required to fill in  this declaration if the PC is not owned and configured by this department. Approval by the Department of Phonetics and Linguistics after you have signed this form, gives permission  only for the PC as identified below to be plugged into the allocated network socket. Another form must be signed for approval if changes are made to the PC's networking hardware or software configuration, or a different PC is plugged in.

This is a pilot networking system and although good reliability is expected, no guarantee can be given that failures for extended periods will not occur. Also, network TCP/IP names and addresses you have previously entered into your PC for connecting it to other networks will probably  be deleted.

Declaration

The absence of  viruses must be confirmed by scanning with a current version of a recognised virus scanner (eg F-Secure) containing all available updates.
